Core Dance's 45th Season celebration will continue with Constructing Dance: a playful celebration of the Art of Making Dances, taking place January 22 through February 9, 2025.

In December 2022, I had the honour of seeing Veronica Paeper and Cape Town City Ballet’s THE NUTCRACKER. The same talented production team returns this season to stage this timeless ballet again. The result is just as beautiful as when I watched it two years ago. These days the Nutcracker can take many forms, from funny to sultry, and everything in between. That is the case with The Hard Nut presented by BAM and Mark Morris Dance Group in Brooklyn. Based on the book by E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, this dance performance is a fun and wacky time for all, including family and children even with those sexual innuendos thrown in there for the adults.

There is no better time to be had than what The Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre offers audiences at its five-week residency at the New York City Center. Thru an intricately woven saga spanning many eras of time, the Star of HEXEN, An Ancestial Witch Play, Dreya Weber, an actress, singer, dancer, writer, lyricist, director and aerial artist, takes us on a magical, mystical series of events beginning many centuries ago with three of her ancestors she came to know as Hildegard (1580-1658), Hypatta (370-415 AD) and Cherry Rose Susanna (1889-1953). Her knowledge of these three was obtained through her mother’s research into their family’s mattrilinial lineage. As her strength, energy, skill, and lightness of being embody each character from her distant past, we come to know their ties to Dreya, through the many creative, explorative scenarios presented.

Musiqa, NobleMotion Dance and the University of Houston IUCRC Brain Center have been awarded Chamber Music America's 2025 Interdisciplinary Collaboration of the Year for “Meeting of Minds”, a joint production with music by Anthony Brandt, choreography by Andy Noble and Dionne Sparkman Noble, visual design by Badie Khaleghian, and brain-computer interfacing (BCI) under the direction of Jose Luis Contreras-Vidal.
