Blues Brothers - Unterwegs im Auftrag des Herrn at Nationaltheater Mannheim

Jake and Elwood Blues are »on a mission from God«. The catholic foster home where the brothers grew up is threatened with foreclosure if the tax bill can not be paid immediately. Jake and Elwood must come up with the 5,000 dollars within a few days but Sister Mary reminds them and beats it into them with a ruler: only by legal means! When visiting a gospel sunday church service in a black community, Jake becomes enlightened: their band, that has unfortunately been separated throughout the city, has to be brought together again for one last big benefit concert. »Motorhead« Jake has the pedal to the metal and the brothers race in high speed from one crazy situation to the next until finally the big night has arrived: an appearance of the reunited »Blues Brothers Band« in front of a sold out house at the Palace Hotel Ballroom.

The worldwide breakthrough of the Blues Brothers was achieved with the 1980 film of the same name (Director: John Landis). It inspired a cult following which continues strongly until today.
