The Grail King Amfortas suffering from an incurable wound, he incurred when he succumbed to the seduction of the beautiful Kundry in the castle of the evil Klingsor. But a "pure fool, knowing through pity" can redeem him from his pain. After long wanderings and become "knowing" by the kiss of erstwhile seductress Kundry Parsifal succeeds in regaining the holy spear. The power is broken and Klingsor Amfortas freed from his suffering. Parsifal reveals the long-hidden Grail who donates power and youth.
