Our story starts twenty-three years before the play begins. When Egeon, a merchant of Syracuse, was sailing home with his wife Emillia, his twin sons, and the twin servants he bought to serve them. Wary of a storm approaching, his crew abandoned ship and the unmanned boat drifted into a rock, splitting itself and Egeons family in two. Egeon and Emilia are separated at sea, each with one child and one servant.Flashforward eighteen years when Egeons son Antiopholus and his servant Dromio, both curious about their other half, set off in search of their twin siblings. In the seven years that followed, Egeon has searched for both of his sons, each named Antipholus and their servants each named Dromio. Egeons search brings him to Ephesus, where he is arrested and sentenced to death for defying the ban in place to prohibit travel between the feuding towns of Syracuse and Ephesus. As Egeon faces the gallows he tells Duke Solinus, the Ephesian ruler, the sad story of his familys shipwreck. The Duke takes pity on him and Egeon is allowed the day to secure the bail to save his life.Unbeknownst to Egeon, the Antipholus he raised, and his servant Dromio have also just entered Ephesus and miraculously, Egeon and both sets of twins end up in the same town, on the same day. Set in the fluorescent flurry of 1980s Miami, this fractured family finds a more favorable fate amidst the mischief, mayhem, and mistaken identity that comes with comedy and its errors. Comedy of Errors is presented Wednesday's and Friday's at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm.
