Doris Hines, a talented nightclub singer, relocates from Yonkers to Minneapolis with hopes of establishing her career while navigating the challenges of a troubled marriage and raising six children in a post-WWII America facing racism. Playwright TyLie Shider explores Hines' journey in a narrative that highlights her significance in the music world, memorialized by Nat King Cole's words to Ella Fitzgerald: "do NOT miss Doris Hines." This reading is part of History Theatre's Fall Raw Stages Festival, which showcases new works and encourages engagement with local playwrights and community discussions.
