Date: May 2-26 Time: Mon-Thurs - 7pm, Fri & Sat- 8pm, Sunday- 3pm Description: Among the Dead is a dark and poignant comedy about a family broken apart by betrayed promises and finding each other again through SPAM, journals, and Jesus. A shape-shifting Jesus serves as the intermediary of this story, which weaves together three separate time periods through one central location a small hotel room in Korea. Among the Dead follows a young American soldier fighting in the jungles of Myanmar in 1944; a Korean comfort woman in 1950s Seoul awaiting the return of the American soldier who fathered her daughter; and a young Korean American woman traveling to Seoul in 1975 to retrieve her recently deceased fathers ashes. Comedy of the laugh-out-loud variety is the surprising top note in Hansol Jungs surreal, somberly titled Among the Dead, a smart and stinging new play that delves into painful business indeed.
