PassinArt presents August Wilson's Seven Guitars, set in the Pittsburgh Hill District in 1948, focusing mainly on seven characters. As the play begins, friends gather after the funeral of a blues musician. The dramatic events leading up to this moment are shown in flashbacks. There are ten plays in Wilson's Century Cycle, otherwise known as The Pittsburgh Cycle, that explore the African American experience decade by decade throughout the 20th century. Seven Guitars is the fifth play in the cycle.
