Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.


Alhambra Dinner Theater Presents 42ND STREET, 3/10-4/25

Theatreworks, Inc. Presents CLICK, CLACK, MOO: COWS THAT TYPE, 4/16

On Friday, April 16, Theatreworks, Inc. will present Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type at its Florida Theatre . The show is reccomended for children in preschool to second grade, with performance taking place at 10 AM and 12 PM. Tickets are $7.

Kate Baldwin Set for HITS Benefit, 3/27

On March 27, Finian's Rainbow's Kate Baldwin will be featured in a cabaret-style performance to benefit Houston's HITS Theatre. The night will include Kate's favorite Broadway selections, including numbers from her CD, and possibly Finian's immortal signature tunes, 'How Are Things in Glocca Morra?' and 'Look to the Rainbow'. Mercury Theatre Faces Uncertain Future
March 25, 2010

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Mercury Theatre and owner, Michael Cullen will face a $3 million forclosure suit from Ravenswood Bank. As reported by Crain's Real Estate Daily, the Southport Ave. theatre hosted many late-night productions of local troupes until Cullen fell ill earlier this year. In December, Cullen began missing monthly mortgage payments, according to a complaint filed March 9 in Cook County Circuit Court.

During a special preview event last night, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center of Long Beach announced its 2010-2011 season which includes a wide variety of performances. Included in the line-up are Broadway veteren Susan Egan, Pink Floyd, and Leonard Nimoy.

Carey Mulligan To Play Doolittle in 'MY FAIR LADY' Film

According to a report by BBC Radio 5 Live, Carey Mulligan is set to play Eliza Doolittle in the upcoming remake of My Fair Lady, written by Emma Thompson. Previous rumors suggested that Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman were interested in the coveted role of Doolittle, however Thompson revealed that Mulligan has been cast.

Broadway's MEMPHIS to Get National Tour

According to Playbilll.com, Memphis, the hit Broadway musical, will be embarking on a national tour, tentatively to launch in fall 2011. Prior to Broadway, the musical played the La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. Memphis co-author DiPietro hinted at the tour possibility in the official blog for the musical.

Public Announces April Line Up for Emerging Writers Group Spotlight Series

The Public Theater will continue its series of free staged readings of new plays by the Emerging Writers Group throughout the month of April. The Emerging Writers Group Spotlight Series presents weekly readings of a full-length play by each writer, directed and performed by experienced artists from the theatrical community. Jason Wells Wins M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award, 3/27

Jason Wells will be honored with the 2010 M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award, for his play Perfect Mendacity. Given by the American Theatre Critics Association, the award will be presented on March 27 at a ceremony at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville, KY.

Geffen Playhouse Renames Mainstage in Honor of Gil Cates

The Geffen Playhouse's annual fundraiser Backstage at the Geffen is always an evening full of surprises for the audience, but this year Producing Director Gil Cates got a surprise of his own. Unbeknownst to him, the board of the directors unanimously voted to name the organization's main stage the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse, an honor that actress and longtime supporter of the theater Rita Wilson announced at yesterday's event.

ANGELS IN AMERICA Opera Makes UK Debut

Tony Kushner's Angels in America has evolved from a play to a film, a TV series and now an opera. Making its UK debut, composer Péter Eötvös sates, 'In the opera version, I put less emphasis on the political line than Kushner...I rather focus on the passionate relationships, on the highly dramatic suspense of the wonderful text, on the permanently uncertain state of the visions.'

Olivier-Winning SPRING AWAKENING to Get West End Revival?

Following Sunday night's Olivier Awards, a rush of Tweets wondered if Spring Awakening might be revived due to its success. Its two Welsh leads, Aneurin Barnard and Iwan Rheon, received a double win as Best Actor in a Musical and Best Supporting Performance in a Musical respectively. While the show recieved penty of critical plaudits, the musical failed to survive longer than five weeks in the West End after its transfer from its sold-out Lyric Hammersmith run. Could a West End revival really be in the works, or is this just wishful thinking?

Scherzinger Shines in Season Premiere of 'Dancing With the Stars'

Theater Masters Presents TAKE 10, 4/6-9
